Sama Collection Receives Silver A’ Design Award 2020
International A’ Design Award & Competition announced the best designs of 2019 – 2020 in all design disciplines. Best products, projects and services worldwide that demonstrate superior design, technology and creativity are rewarded with the A’ Design Award; the symbol of excellence in design and innovation. There are five different levels of distinction: Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Iron A’ Design Awards are distributed annually in several different design disciplines. Sama Collection designed by Fulden Topaloğlu for Studio Kali received A’ Design Award 2020 Silver in the category of Furniture, Decorative Items and Homeware Design.
Inspired by the poetry of whirling costumes worn in Sama ceremonies, the design of Sama furniture collection plays with the geometry of conic sections and makes use of metal bending processes to reinterpret this cultural inspiration through minimal forms that provide a unique touch to living spaces. Produced by skilled wood and metal craftsmen, the collection stands at the intersection of craft production and modern design, aiming to unite craftsmanship traditions of the past and modern aesthetics of the present.
